Reykjavík, Iceland

A guided dip in ice cold water. Good for your health or not?

There are many reasons to visit Reykjavik, Iceland. Some people are drawn to its stunning natural beauty, including geothermal hot springs like the Blue Lagoon, breathtaking landscapes like waterfalls and glaciers, and the chance to see the Northern Lights. Others are intrigued by its rich cultural scene, with vibrant art, music, and food scenes. Additionally, Reykjavik offers unique experiences like exploring its charming downtown area, visiting museums, and soaking in its unique blend of modernity and Icelandic tradition.

Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre

'Harpa is one of Reykjavík’s most striking landmarks and a centre of cultural and social life in the very heart of the city. Harpa is a tourist destination and an award-winning work of art that has been visited by millions of people since opening in 2011.' (Harpa.is)

At Harpa a conference has been held 'Think about your HEALTH'.

4 incredible speakers:

  • James Nestor. Breath - The New Science of a Lost Art
  • Dr. Susanna Søberg - Winter Swimming (and sauna) : The Nordic Way Towards a Healthier and Happier Life
  • Dr. Kristín Sigurðardóttir - Stress Friend or Foe?
  • Vilhjálmur Andri Einarsson - Learn to be OK no matter what

The president of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, opened the event.

Breath, cold, stress & resilience were key subjects during this conference. After the conference there was a guided cold dip at Nauthólsvík beach. The speakers and President of Iceland joined as well. The guided dip was facilitated by Andri Iceland

Is a guided dip in ice cold water good for your health? Some say yes, some no. Would you take the plunge though?

Yes, let's do it!!   No, are you crazy!?   I do not know...

Want to know more about the 'Think about your HEALTH' conference? Here you can find more information and pictures of the event! And here the after movie of the event!

Next to the conference there is a lot of what Harpa has to offer. You can think of the Restaurant & Bar Hnoss or restaurant La Primavera for amazing atmosphere. Or when you are really hungry you can have a look at the harbour at restaurant Höfnin, located at Geirsgata 7, 101 Reykjavík. Pretty sure you will leave satisfied there. It is only a short walking distance from Harpa to the restaurant (see map below). At the harbour you can also find The Icelandic Phallological Museum and of course a special tour to see that humpback whale. These are a few of the extraordinary things you can visit in Iceland. Additionally, you can go to a concert that will be held at one of their venues at Harpa.

Lastly, a building that can't be missed in the centre: hallgrímskirkja. Hallgrímskirkja is a famous Lutheran parish church located in Reykjavík, Iceland.
